Emergency Broadcast System Week 19 11-12

February 10, 2012 4:12 pm
The Hurricanes did not lose a game in regulation since the last writing and picked up 5 out of 6 points. The first game to recap was the Boston game and Cam Ward was a man among boys with 47 saves in a shutout 3-0 of the Bruins which saw captain Eric Staal get the game winner. The Hurricanes completed their first ever season sweep of the defending Stanley Cup Champions in impressive fashion. Then they came to the RBC(soon to be PNC) Center and beat the LA Kings 2-1 on a Jeff Skinner goal in the 3rd period. Once again Cam Ward was a beast in goal as he denied the Kings chances all game long. The final game was the most controversial of all season so far for the Hurricanes. The Ducks and Canes are tied in overtime 2-2 and played a hard fought game, when Jussi Jokinen is clearly tripped by Corey Perry and no penalty is called by anyone on the ice. To add insult to injury, Perry seconds later scores a goal to give the Ducks a 3-2 win that left the Hurricanes announcers, coaches and players mad. It was so bad that the league office actually admitted to the mistake that the referees made in the game.
Now the Hurricanes must bounce back with a couple of games left on the road trip. First is off to the Mile High City in Denver to take on the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 10th. The Avs are in the Western Confernece hunt and Gabriel Landeskog is one of the top rookies in the NHL this season. Then the Hurricanes take on another struggling Eastern Conference team on February 13th in Montreal. Erik Cole leads the Canadiens in scoring and the Habs are playing better of late but are like the Hurricanes mired near the bottom of the East right now. The final game to preview is the San Jose game on the 17th and this is one team that is on the verge of doing something big but just cant get over the hump....new addition Brent Burns leads the Sharks defense and Joe Thorton and Patrick Marleau are as good as advertised so it will be a fun game to watch...
Well thats all for this edition...as always...keep tracking the Hurricanes...
